On January 2nd, 2013 this world lost a truly wonderful man, when the Lord called Sam Henke to his eternal home. Sam was a loving husband, caring brother, loyal son, and legendary friend. He was a man who displayed deep care for others and lived with exuberance, cherishing each precious moment of life.
The Kubb Championships presented by Norman’s All-Stars are held each year to honor the memory of our dear friend. The event organizers encourage each participant to enjoy this day to the fullest and to treasure the time spent with good friends. In doing this we honor Sam’s memory and encourage each other in the hope of our blessed reunion in heaven.
In loving memory of Sam Henke - Be Strong. Have Faith.
Why We Play 2019
The beneficiary this year is the Johnk family. Ryan and his wife Tessa (both 36 years old) are the loving parents of Chloe (10 years old) and Hayden (7 years old). Ryan is the cousin of John Kellerman and made his first tournament appearance at Kubb 5. You may remember him as the guy who won the 50/50 and the Beats headphones, but don't be a hater, you could have purchased more raffle tickets and increased your odds of winning too! A few weeks ago, Ryan was experiencing extreme intestinal pain and visited the doctor in hopes of finding some relief. Several tests were administered and it was revealed that Ryan was suffering from Stage 4 Colon Cancer. A few days later he was rushed into surgery to attack the cancer and now is in the midst of a 6 week recovery prior to starting treatment.
Through all of life's struggles, Ryan has always maintained a deep love for his Lord and shares in the true hope of the eternal life that is his through faith in Christ. But right now he's going to attack the cancer with the spirit and courage of a prize fighter and we're going to support him!
